"All the world's a stage,
and all the men and women merely players:
they have their exits and their entrances;
and one man in his time plays many parts..."
Ahhhh ... the famous lines from William Shakespeare from his play "As You Like It" (Act II, Scene 7, 139–42) ... suddenly aahhh-CHEW!!! became so literary and cultural ... ahahaha ...
Well as I walked along the Southbank towards the bridges, I saw "The Globe Theatre" drawn on the map ... and was stunned for a moment ... isn't that supposed to be in "Stratford-upon-Avon"??? I asked meself ... well, that shows how much I know about good old Will ... that's his birth place ... whereas the Globe is his play theatre in London ...
"The Globe Theatre" was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men, and was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613 ... a second Globe Theatre was rebuilt on the same site by June 1614 but demolished by the Puritans in 1642 ... a modern reconstruction of the Globe, named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997 ...
