Makan, makan, makan ... makan time again ...

Photos of food, food, food ... so brace yourselves, folks ... ahahahaha

Went to this wonderful Japanese restaurant recently with Uncle Kok Wai and Aunty Esther on our way back from Melaka ...

Kinpachi 金八 it is called ... located at Wisma Padicorp at SS17 ... one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever been to ... with the best price thrown in as well ... now itz iz me favouritz ... ahahahaha ...

Uncle Kok Wai says that this restaurant is a favourite "sushi-hole" among the Japanese expatriates ... and true enough many walked in later ...

But the downside??? ... smoking is allowed ... aiyoh??? ... never heard of non-smoking section is it??? ... ahahahaha ... maybe got laaa ... but we were seated between two tables of chimneys lor ... ahahahaha ...

... ahhhhhh ... aahhh-CHEW!!! in sushi haven ... ahahahaha ... but no sushi this round wor ...

... after taking some time going through their menu, aahhh-CHEW!!! finally settled with their Kinpachi Bento Set ... suits me just nice ... afterall I am such a small eater ... ahahahaha ...

... the reason why I picked this set ... the sashimi!!! ... tuna, butter fish and salmon... nice and fresh ... somehow nothing beats the fatty taste of the salmon ... aahhh-CHEW!!! can have it every day ... well, maybe not everyday ... ahahahaha ...

... saba and spaghetti ... the mackerel is nicely grilled and real delish ... the spaghetti in Japanese cuisine is a bit odd though ...

... another of aahhh-CHEW!!'s fave ... tempura prawns ... nice and crispy ...

... another fusion with the western cuisine ... the pork chop ... and this is a very good fusion ... it is nicely done and real tender ... Uncle Kok Wai says this restaurant is famous for their oink oink ... and their gyoza is a must ... so this ain't no halal joint, yo...

... tofu in shoyu ... nice and refreshing ...

The whole family went to this very famous Hakka restaurant near PGRM called "Chuan Kee" ... very nice home cooked food and cheap too ... full house oh ... luckily got booked table ... people without reservation were queuing up outside ... and inside were packed ...

Some food photos before we end the day ... and mighty nice ones if I must say so meself ... ahahahaha ...

Lai Sim came back from Guangzhou for Chinese New Year ... thus we had our customary makan session ... the "Gila-Gila Gang" maybe disbanded but the eating continues ... that's the makan spirit ... ahahahaha ...

And the best part is aahhh-CHEW!!! gets to makan with each member of the "Gila-Gila Gang" when they are back ... I shall later post me makan session with Sylvia when she was back from Germany recently ... ok y'all??? ...

... "Siu Loong Pau" ... I believe i-dragon serves the best Shanghainese Siu Loong Pau ... do you agree with me??? ... if not where else ahhhhh??? ...

... for the Chinese New Year, they created the 4 seasons Siu Loong Pau ... with different colours and flavours ... sesame seed, carrot and something and something ... ahahahahaha ... forgot liau ...

... this is their chives dumplings ... nice also laaa ...

... mushroom and vegetable spring rolls ... ok laaaa ...

... just for Chinese New Year ... waxed meat rice ... with chinese sausage, dried pork and dried duck meat ... looks like a big claypot but it's actually quite small ... itu lah kelebihan skill menangkap gambar ... kecik pun nampak besar kan??? ... ahahahaha ... nice but expensive lor because so small portion ...

... roast duck ... nice but again ... mahal!!! ...

... how can you have a meal without vegetables one??? ... kailan with muchroom ...

... and the best for the last ... mango, pomelo and sago ice ... very the nice ... the perfect dish to end the meal ... yummy!!! ... hehehehe ...

May look like we ate alot but the dishes are actually in quite a small portion ... thus can eat more lor ... but have to pay more also lor ... once a year ok lor ... or for special occassion lor ... or when Lai Sim comes back lor ... ahahahaha ...

Wanted to watch this musical while in New York ... no discount or half priced tickets then and the same in London ... in fact it was fully booked during the weekends ...

Our colleague from Singapore managed to buy online at full price ... GP55 ... RM270 ... for a show on a weekday ...

... this theatre has been home to this musical since 1999 ...

... The Lion King won 6 Tony awards ... including Best Musical ...

It's true what they say ... once you get yourself "hooked" with Facebook, you're so the malas to blog ... hahahaha ... Facebook is truly very the convenient ... but I'm so glad that so many of me friends continue to blog nevertheless ... continue the fight, bros!!! ...

Just got back from London on Friday evening ... 12 days, 11 nights ... worked 12 hours a day, twenty four seven ... real dog tired!!! ... now why do they say dog tired??? ... I normally see dogs just laze around ... ahahahahaha ...

London was very cold and windy when arrived ... then hot like don't know what during the weekends ... then rained ...then cold and gloomy and windy ... haiz ...

Schedule was very tight ... thus no time for sightseeing or one day tour ... but managed to have one night free for a west end show ... "LION KING" ... YEAH!! ...

... dinner at the Heathrow airport before flying off to Malaysia ... what did I have??? ...

... oooohhhh ... Gourmet Burgers!!! ... now that's something you don't see everyday ... only RM50++ a piece mah ... ahahahaha ... it sure ain't McDonald's ...

... 6oz beef burger with two bacon slices and Shropshire blue cheese sauce ... mmmpphh, mmmpphh, mmmpphh ... yummy!!! ...

Before I left for the States, Samuel and Rebekah Mui kept telling me to eat in one of those Jewish delis in New York ... so I searched the net for the most famous Jewish deli in New York ... and everyone says it's Carnegie Deli!!! ... and it's just next to me hotel!!! ... Park Central Hotel!!! ... next to Central Park!!! ... ahahahaha ... ok ... let's move on ...

On the way back from church ...

Realised that aahhh-CHEW!!! hasn't had any agar-agar or pudding during this Chinese New Year ...

Remembered reading this famous pudding that almost every chef or chef-wannabe had featured in their food blogs ...

Made a quick detour to our good old neighbourhood convenient store ... nope, not 7-11 ... now it's KK Convenience Store ... they are now everywhere with hypermarket pricing ...

Got the ingredients needed and it was "Operasi Puding" at home ... ahahahaha ...

And the result ... after a few hours of cooking and freezing it in the icebox ... is ...

... VOILA!!! ... Lychee Pudding ...

... dessert for tonight ... as Julia Child would say ... "haaaaaah, real diet food" ... ahahaha ...

... so easy to make that any aahhh-CHEW!!! could make it ... ahahaha ...

... and it's mighty good too, if I say so meself ... seconded by me mother ... ahahaha ...

... don't believe ahhhhhh??? ... here, have a bowl ... on the house ... ahahahaha ...

And below is the recipe ...

Ingredients ...
One pack of 10gm agar-agar powder
1.25 liter of water (5 metric cups)
8 tablespoons of caster sugar (3/4 metric cup)
1 can of 400 ml evaporated milk
1 can of lychee, roughly pulse with 250ml (1 metric cup) of its syrup
1 can of lychee for decoration

Steps ...
1. Boil sugar and agar-agar powder in water, stir until the agar-agar powder is dissolved and water is boiled.
2. Remove from the stove and stir in the pulsed lychee in syrup and evaporated milk.
3. Pour the mixture into your favourite container.
4. Once cooled to room temperature, store in the refrigerator for at least one hour or until the puding is ready.
5. Remove from the container and decorate with lychee and eat with the lychee syrup.

To be able to have dim sum during Chinese New Year??? ...

When all other restaurants are closed ... and you are beginning to feel bored with all the CNY stuff like mandarin orange, dried porky meat and all kinds of keropok ... ahahaha ... YEEHAW!!! ...

Just got back from me dim sum brunch with me mum ... from me favourite dim sum haunt "Jin Xuan Hong Kong" at Damansara ... no other dim sum restaurants could beat this place yet ... but it tends to be over crowded nowadays and thus service is slightly affected ... it was like fighting for food and attention just now ...

But that's the thing, isn't it??? ... you want to be in a peaceful atmosphere when having your morning tea and dim sum ... and to have people to attend to you ... *sigh* ... that's what happened when places got too famous ... time to to move on, people and seek out new places to dim sum ...

... this is their original branch at Damansara Jaya, same row with Maybank ... just now we dined at their branch at Damansara Uptown ...

... ahhhh ... me mother's fav ... the "char siew pau" ...

Continuing with aahhh-CHEW!!!'s trip to Guangzhou, China ...

We took a one-day-trip to Macau ... took a two-hour bus ride from Guangzhou to Zhuhai and walked over to Macau ... actually we wanted to take a one day tour of Macau through the local tour agency in Guangzhou but they rejected us because we were foreigners ...

It was easier and faster for the local Chinese to enter Macau but foreigners would required more time at the immigration ... so the tour agency people afraid the locals would make noise ... and made noise they did when some other passengers were delaying the ride during the toilet break ... yack yack yack ... like that loh ... culture shock ... ahahahaha ...

Coming out from immigration, we took a local bus ride to Largo Do Senado ...

... Largo Do Senado in Portuguese means The Senado Square or The Senate Square ... it is a paved area in the centre of the Macau ... and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site ... "Historic Centre of Macau" ...

... the square is paved in the traditional Portuguese pavement ...

An ex-colleague of us, Pauline, opened up a family restaurant, called "Kah Hiong" in SS18 Subang Jaya ... and their food was simply delish!!! ... and we have been lunching there regularly and recommending the place to everyone ... now finally a post on this marvelous place ...

In fact Bambi was kissed after lunching at Kah Hiong ... ahahahaha ...

Thus to overcome the phobia after going to Kah Hiong using Federal Highway ... aahhh-CHEW!!! dated some other ex-colleagues to "din-din" there ... making sure it's Federal Highway both ways ... and overcame the fear!!! ... YAHOOO!!! ... ahahahaha ...

... total meal came to RM160++ ... and how much they chipped in for this pizza feast??? ... Samuel offered RM50 ... waaaah ... loaded woh ... and Matthew ... sepuluh sen only ... mmmmppph ... well, all he got to eat was that piece of onion left on the plate ... ahahahaha ...

... their latest creation ... cheessy to the max!!! ... six cheeses on the top!!! ... even more cheese in the crust ... died and went to cheese heaven liau ... ahahahaha ...

I believe their most famous creation was their stuffed crust ... every body hated eating the crust, preferring only the toppings ... and they put cheese into the crust and people ate the whole pizza including the box ... ahahaha ... I believe they once stuffed sausages into the crust too ...

Now moving on from accident to something more fun ... makan!!! ... food!!! ... ahahaha ...

Last Sunday aahhh-CHEW!!! had dinner with family at "Sentul Ah Yap Hokkien Mee & Seafood Restaurant" at ... Sentul where else??? ... ahahahahaha ...

The uncle and aunty have been selling Hokkien mee and Cantonese mee since 1960 ... I could still remember me dad brought me to their 'shack' to tapau their fried noodles ... they later moved to the current restaurant ...

They recently renovated the restaurant and included in their menu various dinner dishes ... so we decided to try out their cooking and to give our support ...

I have to find fault with them though ... they have more or less contributed to aahhh-CHEW!!'s awesome sculptured body ... extra "chee yau char, aunty!!! ... ahahaha ... their crispy pork rinds ... yummy!!! ...

... we decided not to order their Hokkien Mee ... afterall we have been eating them fried noodles like for ages ... now we want to try their other dishes ... this is their Marmite chicken ... good taste but a bit tough ... perhaps over fried??? ....

... his current treasure ... the bronze medal ... by accident ... ahahaha ... an opponent did not turn up, so automatically allowed him to move to semi final ... and kena kicked 14 times by someone with blue belt, his only yellow ... ahahaha ...

And with Ah Yap Hokkien Mee announcing they have been operating for the past 50 years really make us feel old ... we first went to their shack when we were kids, so that means we are at least 40 years old now ... ahahaha ...

Bambi Got Hurt ...

... Bambi was kissed in the butt ... molested ... no longer a virgin ... boohoohoo ...

... in the fast lane .. emergency breaks by the cars in front ... saw smoke rising ... aahhh-CHEW!!! also stepped on the break real hard ... and stopped in time ... the car in front of me also moved out to the middle lane ... if not aahhh-CHEW!!! would have kissed his butt too ... hahaha ... but the car behind me was going very fast and did not stop in time and banged into Bambi ... the impact was horrible and aahhh-CHEW!!! lost control of the car ... me right shoe came off and aahhh-CHEW!!! couldn't find the break ... aahhh-CHEW!!! quickly recollected himself and looked for the break before Bambi bang in to the divider ... so dramatic ... like in the movie only ... ahahaha ...

... so ... bumper gone ... lights gone ... bonnet door gone ...

... the car that kissed and molested Bambi ... a Gen2 ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! heard the Gen2 was totally wrecked ... cannot be driven anymore ...

So, aahhh-CHEW!!! has to make police report at the Traffic Police Station behind the old Thriffty building ... got Bambi photographed again ... so humiliating for Bambi ... ahahaha ... also saw the Gen2 being towed to the police station ...

Then aahhh-CHEW!!! went to the nearby Hospital Assunta to x-ray me shoulder and neck ... me think sprained during the impact ... had to tell what happened in the accident 3 times at the hospital ... to the registration counter, the nurse and the doctor ... me think they were more interested in the accident than me ... afterall I was still alive and kicking ... in fact the staff at the registration counter asked 'siapa sakit'??? ... couldn't believe it was me ... ahahaha ...

So anyway, no slipped disc or broken bones or out of place joints ... doctor gave some medicines and counterpain cream ...

Next went to the workshop ... they said will take a week to 10 days ... now they said need 2 to 3 weeks ... sigh ... thank God they provided a car for me to drive in the meantime ...

... so now aahhh-CHEW!!! is driving ... a Kancil!!! ... ahahaha ... they have plenty of manual cars ... but aahhh-CHEW!!! had forgotten how to drive a manual ... so they provided the next best thing ... a Kancil that was currently being driven by their staff ... ahahaha ...

So, in the meantime ... aahhh-CHEW!!! moved from Bambi to Kancil ... ahahahaha ... also aahhh-CHEW!!! no more virgin ... this was me first major accident ... manyak suey oh this year!!! ... ahahahaha ...

So, remember, if you met with an accident ... you need to jot down all the necessary info, e.g. car plate numbers, the driver's name and contact numbers, and if possible his I.C. numbers as well ... also snap photos of the accident and the cars involved with your camera or hand phone camera ... and make a police report ASAP ...

Ok, ok move on ... don't want to think so much of the accident any more ... ahahahaha ... in the meantime aahhh-CHEW!!! is cruising in a Kancil ... ahahaha ... aahhh-CHEW!!! signing off ...

Dim Your Sum ... The Real China Style ...

Yummy, yummy, yummy ... my favourite food ... dim sum ... ahahahaha ...

Remember I mentioned that I was sick with cold and cough ... this was one of the two meals I found acceptable to my palate ... the rest I don't know why unbelievably salty ... I thought people with cold and cough find their food bland??? ... I know I am queer ...

Lai Sim came across this dim sum restaurant when she first arrived in Guangzhou ... and she sent us photos of the delicious dim sum to temp us to visit her ... ahahahaha ... and has been bringing her friends to this restaurant for dim sum ... perhaps the owner should be giving her a commission ... ahahaha ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! and mother ... this is the face of someone who was sick and still out and about makaning and sightseeing ... ahahahaha ...

... century old pot ... the owner renovated and decorated the place with all sorts of antiques ...

... the art of tea making ... first boil the water ... then pour into the tea pots, rinse and pour away to warm them ... put tea leaves into the tea pot and pour in hot water ... throw away the first brew ... pour the second brew into the tea holder after brewing for 2 to 3 minutes ... should not steep the tea leaves in hot water for too long ...

During the one-day "deluxe" tour of Guangzhou, one of the places we went to was Baiyun Mountain ... 白云山 ... White Cloud Mountain ... it got this name because there is a band of white clouds circles the mountain every time the sun shines after the rain ...

... Lai Sim and aahhh-CHEW!!! ... we ascended 白云山 not by floating on clouds like the warriors or fairies in those kungfu movies but on a 6-seater cart ... hahahahaha ...

... whilst the mortals have to walk their way up ... ahahahaha ...

... Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti ... it ain't funny if you don't get the joke ... ahahahaha ...

... it says "bow down to your king, you miserable little ant!!!" ... ahahaha ... no idea what it says ... can anyone translate??? ...

Well, you need at least a day to truly enjoy White Cloud Mountain, instead of just an hour ... that's traveling with a tour for you ... always limited by time ...

We saw many of the local 'yum char' and playing their local version of sepak takraw on top of the hill ... that's the way to enjoy 白云山 ... take your time and enjoy the peace and tranquility ... hehehehe ...

Bloody Fish Soup And Durian ...

What a combination!!! ... bloody fish soup and durian!!! ... you'll find out why later ... ahahahaha ...

To see all the important places that all tourists must visit, Lai Sim booked us a one-day deluxe tour of Guangzhou ... but "caveat emptor" ... because the "deluxe" standard in China might be different from our expectation ... ahahahaha ... oh, how I fear for the people who opted for the normal tour ...

And if you don't understand Mandarin or any of the local dialects, it is better for you to join a tour that is accompanied by a Malaysian tour guide ... why??? ...

... in our small little tour bus ... hey!!! I thought this was supposed to be deluxe ... oh, never mind ... ahahaha ... even though I understand a bit of Mandarin ... I couldn't understand a single word this tour guide said because of his strong local accent ... all I hear was "ching chang ching chang" ... ahahaha ...

... The Maestro ... don't cry for me Argentina ... oppppss ... salah tempat ...

... The Guangdong Museum of Art ... yes, stop laughing ... aahhh-CHEW!!! was perspiring profusely early in the morning ... told you I was sick mah ... no sympathy one ... ahahaha ...

... the night before our colleague in Guangzhou gave us dinner at a local restaurant ... a restaurant that was supposed to have a long history ... too bad we did not manage to snap a photo of the restaurant ... this is the real authentic Chinese roast duck ... nice and crispy ...

... steamed fresh scallops with egg white ... nice ...

... this is a weird dish ... fish soup with congealed pig’s blood ... YUCKY!!! ... aahhh-CHEW!!! didn't touch this dish at all ... *shivers* ... ahahahaha ...

... fried chicken with dried chillis ... very nice also ...

... stir-fried young "kai choy" with garlic ...

... and finally the durian pastry ... Lai Sim was all praise for this pastry ever since she ate it in this restaurant and highly recommended that we must order it ... it seemed that the Cina orang also like this "king of fruit" very much too ...

Balik Tong Shan ...

Once upon a time ... many moons ago ... in May this year exactly ... ahahahaha ... Wee Wee, me mother and aahhh-CHEW!!! made a trip to Guangzhou, China to visit Lai Sim ... this marked the first time me mother and aahhh-CHEW!!! stepped our feet on China's soil ...

Me pastor unconsciously commented that my mother was going back to Tong Shan ... CHOI!!! ... why??? ... that's because that term refers to someone being passed away ... ahahahaha!!! ... it's quite alright, we are Christian ... we don't believe in all these superstitious pantang larang one ... hahaha ...

... this is also the first time me mother takes an airplane ride ... so she was quite excited ... well, we made sure she got the window seat ... hahahaha ...

... in the taxi towards city centre ... it's quite smooth checking out from immigration and custom ... and it's also very easy to get a taxi ... in spite of all the fear of being kidnapped by ruthless taxi drivers ... hahahaha ...

... after leaving our stuff at Lai Sim's apartment, we went to "Shangxia Jiu Lu Pedestrian Street" ... for shopping!!! ... the whole street is filled with shops selling clothings, bags and shoes at unbelievable prices ... there are also plenty of tea houses like this one ... before shopping, we makan first ... hehehehe ...

... me mother and aahhh-CHEW!!! ... I looked ok but actually I was quite sick with flu and cough ... *sigh* ... so sad ... I suffered throughout the whole trip ... hahaha ...

... Lai Sim, Wee Wee and me mother ... Lai Sim's t-shirt could read our mind ... yes, we were very hungry ... this was going to be our first meal in China ... breakfast and lunch at 2pm ... hehehe ...

... soya bean milk ... with ginger ... very nice ...

... fresh prawn chee cheong fun ... this one very the nice ...

One good thing about Guangzhou was everyone speaks Cantonese ... it's just like in KL ... thus making conversation and bargaining very easy ...

And to clear some misconception about toilets in China ... well, the toilets are pretty clean ... after all Guangzhou is a big city ... and they are preparing for the 2010 Asian Games ...

But some restaurants, for example the tea house above, do not open their toilet to the public ... so they told us to go to the nearby shopping malls or bigger restaurants to do our business ... ahahaha ...

So, we tried not to drink too much ... and tried not to whistle or sneeze when we need to answer nature's call ... ahahahaha ... aahhh-CHEW!!! signing off ...

She has a lovely "smoky voice" ... you have to listen to the songs to understand what I mean ...

And I was mesmerized by her three Japanese songs rather than the English ones ... bought it immediately even though I don't understand Japanese ... they are the last three tracks in the album but I decided to put them in the beginning ...

Tash Aw, the author of the "The Harmony Silk Factory", was in town in June last year ... he was on a world tour to promote his latest book, "Map of the Invisible World" ...

He had "meet-the-fans sessions" at the book shops at the Ikano and the Curve ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! with the most successful Malaysian writer ... "The Harmony Silk Factory" was longlisted for the "2005 Man Booker Prize" and won the "2005 Whitbread Book Awards First Novel Award" and the "2005 Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Novel (Asia Pacific region)" ... now that's how successful he is ... :-)

... this one is another best seller!!! ... his new book is about searching for a sense of home during the political upheaval of 1960s Indonesia ...

Hahaha ... aahhh-CHEW!!! was highlighted in the Berita Harian newspaper ... of all the dailies, a Malay newspaper!!! ... hahaha ... well, at least it's not the Chinese daily ... gua tak tau baca oh ... muahahaha ...

My colleagues and I went up to NST head office a few months ago to present our promotion and marketing proposal to the editorial and marketing people of Berita Harian ...

We thought it was a bit strange why they asked their photographer to come into the meeting room to snap our photos ... they said it was to snap mug shots of us ... ??? ... ahyoyoh!!! alamak!!! ... masuk polis stesen kah??? ... ahahaha ...

A few weeks later we saw our pretty faces in an article in the Berita Harian ...highlighting how we discussed and worked together to plan this promotion successfully ...

Now, thinking about it, aahhh-CHEW!!! was interviewed by TV1 in 2005 ... it was broadcasted but I never did manage to see me handsome face ... and speaking in Bahasa Melayu some more ... hahahaha ... who watch TV1 anyway??? ... also the reception for TV1 in me area is very the horrible ...

Food Tasters For The Kings ...

A few weeks ago aahhh-CHEW!!! and colleagues were invited for food tasting for our coming gala dinner for the BookFest@Malaysia 2010 ...

So we were actually the guinea pigs ... hahahaha ... not to ascertain the presence of poison ... hehehe ... but to ensure that the food are tasty and suitable for our guests ...

... so meet white mouse Joann, guinea pig aahhh-CHEW!!! and piglet Li Ching ... all eagerly waiting for the food to be served ...

... the first course ... cold dish ... yummy yummy ... especially the baby octopus ... Malaysian version instead of Japanese ... has a very nice taste of lemongrass ...

... next is the shark fin soup ... look at the fins before they were mixed into the soup ... I know, I know ... innocent sharks are caught and slaughtered for their fins and thrown back into the sea ... guilty as charged ... burp burp ... hahaha ...

... this is another version of shark fin soup ... with crab's roes ... ooppsss ... :)

... baked chicken with Chinese herbs sauce ... ok only lor ... as the chicken was not baked with the Chinese herbs ...

... now, this fish is fantastic ... fried grouper in orange sauce ... yummy!!! ...

... this is our favourite ... wasabi prawns!!! ... they may look threatening but they are quite mild as the wasabi was mixed with mayonaise ... not enough kick for us sushi lovers ... ahahaha ...

... this one is the expensive dish ... steamed dried scallops with Chinese mushrooms and broccoli ...

... fried rice ... the filler ... to ensure that we all go back stuffed to our neck ... ahahaha ... hey but it was so nice to eat with the chef's special shrimp belachan sambal!!! ...

... dessert was the red bean cream with tong yuen ... nice!!! ...

We were very hungry after a long day ...

We were very tired after all the hard work ...

We wanted to de-stress and relax ...

We were quite disappointed because the restaurant we wanted to go to makan was closed that night ... so we were desperately looking for food, not Susan ... ahahaha ...

Finally we made our way to a food court near Gurney ... we have given up hope on Gurney Drive ... too commercialised liau ...

We sent out two Ah Sohs, Joann and Li Ching, whom we thought would not buy the whole food court ... even when Yoke Siew went shopping, I told her to coordinate with the Ah Sohs so that they would not overbuy or doublebuy ...

And guess what??? ... they really bought something from almost every stall in the food court!!! ... ahhhhhhh!!! ... ahahaha ...

... they bought 22 dishes for enam, six persons!!! ... look at the faces ... you could see the ones with the guilty looks ... and the ones with the look of fear ... ahahaha ...

... and the people at the table next to us were so shocked when they see food being delivered again and again to our table ... finally I told them we were reporters reviewing the food at the food court ... ahahaha ... also, every customer who came into the food court stared at our table and was stunned for a few seconds ... we were so embarrassed ... finally the people next to our table gave us some leaflets before leaving, that say "how to lose weight without exercising" ... ahahahaha ...

... so what did we buy??? ... some better shots taken ... as you can see the photos came out a bit blur ... my hands must be shaking and me mouth saliva dripping ... ahahaha ... ok, inilah ikan bakar Penang ...

... Taiwan's Shilin Street style fried chicken chop ... very nice ...

... also another imitation from the same street ... chicken popcorn ...nice, nice ...

... this one also very the delish ... fried shrimps ala Manhattan Fish Market ...

... mana boleh pergi ke Penang tak makan Rojak Pasembor ... but this one still can't beat the Gurney Drive one ... hehehe ...

And of course we couldn't finished all the food ... Yoke Siew and Li Ching 'tapau' some of them back for supper in the hotel room ... LOL ... I don't think they managed to eat them ... hahaha ...

Somemore our boss bought us some rambutans and mangosteens for more makan time in the hotel room ... I was so full and sleepy, I went straight to snoring after mandi ... ahahaha ...

People ... you know gluttony??? ... the second deadly sins ... haiz ... *sigh* ... ahahaha ...

Penang Curry Mee Lor ...

Early this month, aahhh-CHEW!!! and colleagues made a business road trip to Penang for the Grand Opening of our new branch in Komtar lor ...

Reaching Penang after 4 hours of driving, we went to makan the famous Penang Curry Mee at one of the old kopitiams in Komtar lor ...

According to me colleague, Li Ching, the owner is the same Ah Pek that has operated the curry mee stall for more than 10 years lor ...

And the curry mee came in a very different colour and true enough, very the delish lor ...

... Yoke Siew, aahhh-CHEW!!! and Wee Wee lor ... long time no see them in me blog, right??? ... hahaha ...

... Li Ching, Joann and Chang Seng lor ... Chang Seng is first time in this blog lor ...

... the curry mee came in a very pale santan soup with a big spoon of chilli ... I tasted the naked soup ... very nice on its own lor!!! ...

... then you mix the chilli with soup and noodle lor ...

... and you'll get a very nice bowl of delicious and hot curry mee lor ... I wondered why can't they just mix them up before serving ... well, I guess that's what make it so special lor ... and people continued to patron this stall in this old kopitiam ... and the Ah Pek managed to survive the test of time lor ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! and the Komtar lor ... ini gambar hor ... macam ditangkap pada zaman 60'an saja, betul tak??? ... hallo? belum dilahirkan lagi laaaa ... ahahahaha ...

Coming up tomorrow ... we went crazy lor ... ordering food enough to feed 20 people lor ... real crazy, I tell you ... somemore I didn't order any of them lor ... and ... and I was on diet lor ... ahahaha ...

Orchestra In The Bedroom ...

As mentioned in the previous post, our church had our family camp from 17th to 2oth of June at Bukit Gambang Resort City ...

My boss was so good ... I was allowed to skip one of the monthly retail meetings to attend this camp ...

Me and six young men had the privileged of staying in one apartment ... the girls were so jealous of us ...

And imagine four guys in two beds put together ... me being one of them!!! ... I was expecting 3 roti canais for breakfast ... ahahaha ...

And all four of us snored like don't know what ... me being the loudest ... thus we had an orchestra in the bedroom ... ahahaha ... and I don't think the three fellows slept much during the camp ... hahaha ...

But we had a great time ... some photos of me and the boys ...

... our stash in the apartment ... lunch and supper!!! ... yes, we are health freaks ... ahahaha ...

... The Gambang Hill Song Band ... the six stringed instrument quintet ...

... alamak!!! ... what is this??? ... second hand shoes shop??? ... special Kuantan salted fish flavour!!! ... ahahaha ...

... ok lah, this is the Matthew Clan laaaa, happy??? ... ahahaha ... last lunch at the camp ... we realised we didn't snap that many photos in this camp ... so catching up for lost time lor ...

... "peace, dude" ... "peace, America" ... what the ...??? ... ahahaha ...

... during the camp I took 11 pills ... yes, 11 pills ... and really frightened the guys ... I told them they were "drugs" and acted "high" and kept on chanting "peace, dude" and "peace, America" ... ahahaha ... they were actually homemade herbal pills, made from real bitter plant, to reduce body heat ... now they all know ... "peace, dude" ... ahahaha ...

And what else happened in our room??? ... well, there was this beauty grooming session with me "Proactiv Solution" to clear the boys' pimples ... ahahaha ... and there was this incident with me "Ralph Lauren Safari EDT" ... ahahaha ... you don't want to know ... and all these only the tips of the iceberg ...

What else, what else??? ... well, for us to know and for you not to find out laaaa ... hehehe ...

What a great way to begin the week!!! ... with food, what else???!!! ... and also what a way to continue blogging ...

Last Thursday to Sunday, our church had our family camp at Bukit Gambang, near Kuantan ...

On the way back, we stopped at the foot of Genting Highlands, near Seleseh Homes for dinner ... at this place called "Remember SDE Restaurant" ...

... this is the Mui Clan ... and as you can see, they have the original Wimpy Kid, Samuel Mui!!! ... and also, we makan first then took the photos ... ahahahaha ...

... this is the Chew Clan ... aahhh-CHEW!!! and mum ... even though my clan is smaller in number but we will beat the Mui Clan because ... we have aahhh-CHEW!!! ... muahahaha ...

... so we shall pretend that dinner is now served ...

... kari babi hutan ... oh tak halal, tak halal ... tapi oh sedapnya ... hahahaha ...

... ribs king ... I realised we tend to always order either ribs king, marmite ribs or sweet and sour pork at dinners ... because they are nice and restaurants can't really go wrong with them ...

... assam fish ... yummy ...

... this is their signature homemade tofu dish wor ... well, they should have just kept it at home ... aiyoh!!! aahhh-CHEW!!! is so bad one ... muahahaha ...

... now this is very interesting ... this poster caught our eyes when we entered the restaurant and everyone started snapping photos ... castrated chicken??? ... what the chicken has to sacrifice for our tummy's sake ... to take away its natural pleasure instinct it's simply too cruel ... ahahaha ... it costs RM75 per kilo and it's 5 kilo per chicken ... that's RM375!!! ... now, the Chinese people eat the parts of the animal to nourish the body ... like eating chicken feet for stronger legs ... so, I was thinking, this castrated chicken is really no help to the guys, right??? ... ahahaha ...

The Esther/Julia Project??? ...

Hiya folks,

Have you watched the movie "Julie and Julia"??? ... it is very, very entertaining ... go watch it!!! ... it has two story lines ... one tells how Julia Child started her culinary career, based on her book "My Life in France", while the other is about Julie Powell who started her blog, "The Julie/Julia Project", to cook all 524 recipes from Child's cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking", in one year time

And what is this Esther/Julia Project??? ... is Esther Mui going to cook all the recipes from that cookbook as well??? ... well, I hope she would ... ahahaha ... just to kacau her because she managed to make successfully the "Onion Soup Gratinée with Cheese", Julia's style ... and of course aahhh-CHEW!!! was invited to dinner where this soup was served ... hehehe ...

... I don't think Esther has this cookbook yet ... but help is on the way ... in pdf format ... if she wants ... ooopppss ... ahahaha ...

... Esther Mui's "Onion Soup Gratinée with Cheese", Julia's style ... nice!!! ...

And for this Esther/Julia Project, I have included here the actual recipe from the cookbook ... now aren't I kind??? ... :-)

Soupe à l'Oignon Gratinée ...
Onion Soup Gratinée with Cheese ...

The onions for an onion soup need a long, slow cooking in butter and oil, then a long, slow simmering in stock for them to develop the deep, rich flavour which characterizes a perfect brew. You should therefore count on 2½ hours at least from start to finish. Though the preliminary cooking in butter requires some watching, the actual simmering can proceed almost unattended.

For 6 to 8 servings

1½ lbs. or about 5 cups of thinly sliced yellow onions
3 Tb butter
1 Tb oil
A heavy-bottomed, 4-quart covered saucepan
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp sugar (helps the onions to brown)
3 Tb flour
2 quarts boiling brown stock, canned beef bouillon, or 1 quart of boiling water and 1 quart of stock or bouillon
½ cup dry white wine or dry white vermouth
Salt and pepper to taste
A fireproof tureen or casserole or individual onion soup pots
2 ounces Swiss cheese cut into very thin slivers
1 Tb grated raw onion
12 to 16 rounds of hard toasted French bread

Cook the onions slowly with the butter and oil in the covered saucepan for 15 minutes.
Uncover, raise heat to moderate, and stir in the salt and sugar. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes stirring frequently, until the onions have turned an even, deep, golden brown.
Sprinkle in the flour and stir for 3 minutes.
Off the heat, blend in the boiling liquid. Add the wine, and season to taste. Simmer partially covered for 30 to 40 minutes or more, skimming occasionally. Correct seasoning.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Bring the soup to the boil and pour into the tureen or soup pots.
Stir in the slivered cheese and grated onion.
Float the rounds of toast on top of the soup, and spread the grated cheese over it.
Sprinkle with the oil or butter.
Bake for 20 minutes in the oven, then set for a minute or two under a preheated broiler to brown the top lightly.
Serve immediately.

... the onions were nicely brown and the soup was thick because of the bread ... and very creamy too because of the cheese on top ... perfect to eat with garlic bread!!! ... nice!!! ...

... and the main course for that night was "roast chicken with root vegetables" ... though not Julia's style but still very the delish!!! ...

Well, last December just before Christmas, the Mui household held another great cook out day ... same casts and chefs ... apa lagi??? saya pun pergi makan laaaa ...

This time Yoke Thoo and Esther Mui attempted the kopitiam favourites ... the siew yoke@roast pork and the char siew@barbeque pork ... I believe Julia Child would call them the "real diet dishes" ... ahahaha ... now you understand why I need to go on a weight loss project, right??? ... it's all your faults ladies!!! ... muahahaha ... oopppsss ... I don't think I would be invited to the third great cook out day ... thousand apologies ... hahahaha ...

After our impromptu desserts indulgence, we continued our walk to Takashimaya ...

Along the way we enjoyed the blinks blinks along Orchard Road ... the Singapore Government really took the effort to decorate this street every year ... and they never failed to amaze us ...

Now, if the same could be done for our Golden Triangle ... we might have tons of tourists coming to Malaysia for the blinks blinks too ... hear or not, Datuk Ng??? ... ahahaha ...

Lin Fong, Sook Kuen and aahhh-CHEW!!! waiting for the train to come ... we felt adventurous and decided to take the MRT to all our destinations in Singapore ... and the MRT is so convenient, fast and cheap too ... we went straight from the airport to Bugis for breakfast and then to Suntec City for the BookFest@Singapore and later around the Orchard Road area ... and it costs only S$1 - S$1.60 per trip ... now, how cool is that??? ...

After two hours of walking, shopping and snapping photos at the BookFest, our colleague in Singapore took us to a buffet porridge ... all you can eat porridge and lotsa other dishes ...

Without saying much, we ate more of other dishes and stuff than the porridge ... ahahaha ...

Actually we were there to attend the BookFest@Singapore 2009 at "Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre" ... as this bookfair is held annually in December, we get the chance to experience Christmas in Singapore every year ... YEAH!!! ...

And because it's Christmas, you'll see Christmas Trees everywhere ... and big ones too ...

Early this month, I made a drastic resolution to lose 30 kg in six months ... happy to say that there is good progress towards this goal ... I could see some neck now ... YAHOO!!! ... :-)

Now I decided to make another big one ... to switch off me PC at home for the next 6 months ... this is because I felt that I spent too much time in front of the PC ... and time at home has been unproductive ... so no downloads and no movies or tv series on the PC for the next 6 months ... boo-hoo-hoo ... :-(

Some of me mates said "no way!!!" because they wanted me to download stuff for them ... ahem, hallo??? support la sikit??? ... some said "why not just make it permanent???" ... hallo again??? why'd you want to torture me??? ...

So what am I gonna do at home, you asked??? ... well, aahhh-CHEW!!!'s gonna read ...

... this should get your attention ... hahaha ...

But rest assured, even though me PC is switched off, me blog will still be updated regularly ... I have scheduled one or two posts to be uploaded every week for the next few months ... so don't get pissed off when I don't respond to your comments, ok??? ... :-D

So, aahhh-CHEW!!! has left the building ...

OK ... this is a very long delayed post ... Lai Sim was posted to the company's buying office in Guangzhou, China in September 2009 ... yes, that long ago ... and she would be coming back for CNY next month ... so I thought I better blog about her farewell dinner before she got back ... nanti kena ketuk kepala oh ... ahahahaha ... btw, she says she has very limited access to websites outside China ... so she can't even read me blog ... now that's utterly unfair!!! ...

Wee Wee and aahhh-CHEW!!! gave her a farewell dinner at our favourite "Sura Korean Restaurant" at Desa Sri Hartamas ... this was Wee Wee's first time eating there ... and as we have been there so many times I didn't snap any photos of the food ... and just paid full concentration on the eating ... ahahaha ...

Hiya folks,

Just got back from a one day trip to Singapore ... our supplier flew us down for a meeting ... so excited I was because this is the first time I flew Firefly!!! ... and I got nothing but praises for the entire ride ...

In the past I didn't fancy (actually scared like *bleet*) flying Firefly or Berjaya Air as they used the Fokker planes ... you know lah ... if I sit on either side of the plane, it will be tilted to one side one ... so have to sit on the walk-way to balance the plane ... ahahaha ...

So I was very thankful that Firefly is now using the ATR 72-500 aircraft ... ahahaha ...

... normally in horror movies, this is where the passengers see smoke coming out from the engines or the propellers stop spinning ... 'CHOI!!!' ... ahahaha ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! at Singapore Budget Terminal, just next to Changi International Airport ... our LCCT locates 20km from KLIA!!! ... LOL ... btw, this shirt was formerly very very tight fitting but now ... ahem, ahem ... ahahaha ... :-D

... the price of the ticket is as cheap as AirAsia ...

... 20kg vs 10kg luggage allowance from AirAsia ... somemore AirAsia got many hidden costs ... tambah berat tambah duit lagi ...

... still cheaper ... in terms of taxi fare ... Firefly operates from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang ... so you don't need to go all the way to KLIA or LCCT for a short haul to Singapore ...

... very time saving as it took only half an hour from my house instead of an hour to Sepang ...

... less crowded, so faster check-in ...

... same goes also at Singapore Budget Terminal ... fast immigration check-out ...

... hey!!! got juice and muffin!!! ... even MAS serves only a glass of juice ...

... very good service from well-groomed stewardess ... after all Firefly belongs to MAS ... ada standard laaa ... even for a budget flight ...

... and ... and ... finally ... at LCCT ... that ... that ... long walk from the terminal to the plane ... what a horrible experience ... worst than Puduraya!!! ... @_@"'

So in the future aahhh-CHEW!!! flies Firefly to Singapore!!! ... I wonder Firefly would give me free tickets for all the above praises??? ... ahahaha ... aahhh-CHEW!!!

BTW, kunang-kunang is a rarely used Malay name for fireflies. ... the more commonly used name is kelip-kelip ... it is also the name of Firefly's in-flight magazine ... now you are informed ... :)

Last Saturday, some of us ex-college mates of TARC Year 1993 had a small gathering at Shogun Sunway Pyramid ... btw, Shogun Sunway Pyramid is way better than Shogun 1-U ... ;-)

It has been 18 months since our last gathering ... remembered Alex ... as he was then moving on to a new job ... at that time we had buffet at Sun & Surf, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa ... HEY!!! ... Sunway also!!! ...

... well, that's us after 20 years ... some less hair, some with extra spare tyres, some married, some not, some with children, some still honeymooning ...

People, maybe we should meet again during Chinese New Year at West Lake Garden Chinese Restaurant, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, for their buffet Dim Sum!!! ... :-)

Hi folks ...

I'm sure the title of this post attracted many of my friends who know that I don't give a *bleet* about weight control ... hahaha ... aahhh-CHEW!!! always assumed he was borne into this size ... so why fight it, right??? ... so, dieting was never in me dictionary ... ;-P

And then I got an email from that 'horrible' Esther Mui ... attached with the following photo ... *sigh* ... horribly truthful and horribly right most of the time ...

... she reminded me that I could and was in a smaller size two years ago ... was able to buy clothes off the rack ... but they are now tucked away in the store room ... and was shouting "I have a neck" ... like, duh??? ...

... and when I was searching for something in me blog, I pulak found this photo taken during Christmas 2008 ... I want me long neck back!!! ...

Thus I decided "to set something I never believe in" to "achieve something I would never do" ... confusing right??? ... actually not ...

So at the beginning of this year I decided to set me first New Year's resolution ...

... "I will this day resolve to improve me health ... to go on a diet ... to eat better ... to avoid sweets, fried food and junk food like a plague ... to exercise more ... to lose the current burden and aim for a desirable weight ... so help me God" ... Amen ...

And from this website, Quirkology, it says ...

"Men were significantly more likely to succeed when asked to engage in either goal setting (e.g., instead of trying to lose weight in general, aiming to lose a pound each week), or focusing on the rewards associated with achieving their goal (e.g., being more attractive to the opposite sex)."

So how much weight to disposed off, you asked??? ... 30 kg in 6 months time ... that's 5 kg in 1 month ... or 1.25 kg per week ... is it too far-fetched??? ... 2.8 pounds in a week??? ... well, I managed to reduce that much two years ago ... but then I was unwell with that *bleet* abscess on me back ... hahaha ...

Well, we shall see in six months time ... I have started me diet already ... skipping me breakfast and lunch (to some people its a big no-no ... skipping the most important meal of the day??? ... well, whatever my dear ...) ... clear noodle soup and fruits for dinner ... no junk food at all as I believe they are the major contributors to me "adipose tissue" ... ahahaha ... you are what you eat ... junk!!! ... ahahaha ...

I have yet to start on me exercise though ... apart from me weekly Saturday morning walk ... perhaps I should jump back on me rusty exercise bicycle??? ... mmppphhh ...

And how much do I weight now??? ... ya, right ... as if I would make it public here??? ... ahahaha ...

And shall I update on how much I lose weekly??? ... well, I think I should!!! ...

So people ... please, please, please give me your full moral support, ok??? ... mucho gracias ... :-)

This one is about about me trip to PD last week ... one of the boys have been pestering for the photos and I forgot to bring them to church today ... :(

The whole church went to PD the day after Boxing Day for a 'four days-three nights' seminar ... this is the second time the church has its family camp at the Golden Sands Baptist Center ...

... before the camp ... no photo please!!! ... someone was camera shy ... guess who??? ... clue??? ... the first born laaa ... hahaha ... Ian, Ewan, Samuel and I went earlier to set up the sound system ... after that, went for a quick lunch while waiting for the rest to arrive ...

... the amazing thing was not how Samuel Mui held his chopsticks but the fact that he managed to pick up the fishball ... sila bagi tepukan!!! ... hahahaha ...

... during the camp ... listening to the "Advance Seminar" by Bill Gothard ... this is the first photo of me feet ... who took? ... the first born laaaa ... hahaha ...

... mixed up ... people kept on wearing me Crocs shoes ... so we finally wore one of each ... ahahaha ...

... playing with the big boys ... we managed to lose the younger boys and drove out to 7-11 for Slurpee and junk food ... and took photos at the public beach at don't know where ...

I love road trips!!! ... no duty and responsibility ... just lazed and lingered around unnoticed ... no stress and plenty of time for spiritual food, real food, fun at the beach and family and brotherhood bonding ... bliss ...

Four Weddings And A Funeral ...

Hi folks,

Blessed Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!!! ...
And hello 2010!!! ...
So did your holidays end with a bang??? ...

Well, I'm back after a short hiatus ... just got back from a 'four days-three nights' church camp in PD two days ago ... went to Singapore, wanted to say for the Christmas holidays but it's for work ... yes, work, work and work ... and my pastor is preaching "why are we working???" ... "which master are we serving???" ... mmmpppphhh ...

And what a way to end my 2009 ... slightly different from the title of this post, attended three funerals and three weddings in the last two months ... sort of balanced up, doesn't it??? ... and my first in leading worship in a funeral service ... now that was nerve wrecking ... didn't know what to expect ... you know, people crying and sad and all that ...

But praise the Lord, 2009 ended with weddings as well ... how about that??? ... death and birth ... well, birth of new lives for the newly wedded couples ...

... was having me walk at Bukit Kiara one Saturday when I saw someone left his umbrella at the bench ... and a bunch of things came into this poet-wannabe's mind ... left-behind ... the absent owner ... so apt for that season with so many deaths and all ... so farewell to Uncle Wong, Lucrece's mom and Uncle Koh's daughter Sher Li ... rest in peace ...

... and they live happily ever after ... my colleague, P.E. Tan's wedding at the Nobel House ... the ten-course dinner was the best I had so far ... out of the norm dishes and delish toooo!!! ...

... Sarah and Meng's wedding ... such a long time since I entered a big church ... reminiscence of days gone by ... and 'dreams' interpreted ... hahaha ...

... be fruitful and multiply??? ... ahahaha ...

... and finally my ex-colleague, Leon's wedding at the Rennaisance ... the world is so small ... his wife and her parents used to attend me ex-church ... so meeting familiar faces ... unwillingly ... ahahaha ...

So I was glad the year ended with a happy note ... a fresh start for a new year ... hopefully I would have more discipline in updating this blog ... what's my resolution for the new year, I heard someone asked??? ... well, I used to not believing in setting resolution but this year would be slightly different ... and the resolution is ... *will be revealed after we come back from the advertisments* ... ahahaha ... no, will be revealed in the next post ... hehehe ...

Last Saturday, we were supposed to continue our long abandoned morning walk at Bukit Kiara ... but then it rained so heavily ... so all the excuse for breakfast only ... ahahaha ...

The other day aahhh-CHEW!!! finally bought his very first pair of "Crocs" shoes ... after hearing much hype about this shoes ... and after so many of me friends bought theirs ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! and his brand new brown Crocs ...

But these are the comments I received ...

Pastor's wife says that I paid hundred over ringgit for rubbers ... shoes made in China ... widely available and cheaper from vendors in lorries and in the hypermarkets ... boo-hoo-hoo!!! ... ciss!!! ... crocodile's tears!!! ... ahahaha ...

The news reported that children suffered injuries after their shoes got caught in the escalator ... ok, ok ... me no children, ok??? ... ahahaha ... imagine aahhh-CHEW!!!'s foot got caught in the escalator ... that would be news!!! ... ahahaha ...

And finally ...

Now comes the food ... ahahaha ... you folks must be wondering what happened to aahhh-CHEW!!! and his food ... so here goes ...

Recently our boss gave us a treat after all the hard work at the BookFest@Malaysia in August ...

We went to Restoran LYJ in Sungai Buloh ... and we makan "Poon Choi" or "Big Bowl Feast " or literally "basin food" ...

You folks must be wondering what the heck is "Poon Choi" ... it is actually a traditional type of food originated from Hakka cuisine ... consisting of layers and layers of goodies ... pork, steamed chicken, roasted duck, abalone, fish maw, prawn, mushroom, fishballs, squid and beancurd ... Yummy!!! ...

... ini lah tempatnya ... we drove all the way from Cheras to this restaurant in Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh ... at rush hour somemore ... ahahaha

... this pot cost RM238 ... invented when Mongol troops invaded Song China ... the young Emperor fled to the area around Guangdong Province and Hong Kong and the locals collected all their best food available, cooked it, and put it in wooden washing basins ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! and Li Ching ... "korek here and korek there" for all the good stuff ... ahahaha ...

... this is the award winning "Loh Mai Kai" by the owner, Chef Paul Lee ...

... this is the expensive version of the "Loh Mai Kai" ... glutinous rice stuffed into the roasted chicken ...

Well, needless to say that we were well stuffed that night ... Li Ching somemore "ta pau" the leftovers of the "Pooi Choi" to makan with porridge at home ... ahahaha ... the only thing left on the table was the chicken's butt ... oooppss!!! ... I mean the bishop's nose ... ahahaha ... aahhh-CHEW!!!

The Guitar Man ...

Once upon a time aahhh-CHEW!!! knew how to play the guitar ... what??? ... don't believe ahhh??? ... ahahaha ...

5 or 6 years ago I took some basic lessons from a brother, Kelvin Lai , from the old church ... together with some other folks from the church (Bayen and wife and Mei Ling, I think) ... he took us to a music shop near Atria at Damansara Jaya to buy our own guitar ... and we had one or two hours of lessons every week at his house at TTDI ...

Hey, I was quite ok then you know ... I could play the entire "Shine Jesus Shine" song ... so the syok ...

Now all gone liau ... all given back to the teacher ... ahahaha ...

So the other day, I got out my old guitar and got Kok Wai to tune it for me ... and got my good friend Ian to teach me ...

So now I know some short cut steps for the A, D and E keys ... :-P

Many, many, many months ago, aahhh-CHEW!!! went to Port Dickson for the church's family camp ... at this place called "Golden Sands Baptist Center" ...

I don't particularly like beaches ... I always hated the sun, the heat, the sweat, the stickiness ... nevertheless I enjoyed this trip very much ... perhaps of the company ... the friends there ...

So, looking at the photos again, I have to burst, not into laughter or songs, but into poems ...

aahhh-CHEW!!! is smittened by this pretty girl ... and her name is Zee Avi ...

She is 24 ... from Miri Sarawak and her latest self-titled album is released by Ian Montone's Monotone Label and Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records ... people who gave us "Sleep Through the Static" ...

The album hit #130 US Billboard Hot 200 Chart and #2 US Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart ... and sold 6,000 copies in the United States in its first 2 weeks of release ...

And her first single "Bitter Heart" spent 3 weeks on Japan's Top 100 Singles chart ... it entered the chart at #82 and peaked at #63, where it stayed for 2 weeks ...

And the song "Monte" was featured in the second season finale of Private Practice ...

A New Season ...

Hi folks ...

Long time no talk ... WOW!!! ... it's been three months since I penned down anything here ... the longest, me think ...

Actually I thought of closing down this blog ... was and still is very busy ... and also got a bit bored with blogging ... thought nobody reads it anyway ... until kena 'bazooka-ed' by Leo and Tallboyz ... mmpphh ... only two bothered to make a fuzz ... not very encouraging, is it??? ... hahaha ... well, at least it's better than none ...

So, in a nutshell what happened in the last three months ...
aahhh-CHEW!!! was two years old last July 31st ... YEAH!!! ... TWO YEARS OLD!!! ...

Did me 'tour of duty' for me new portfolio for BookFest@Malaysia 2009 in August ... our fourth year ... supposed to sell books but meself bought more than RM1000 worth of English books ...

Lai Sim was posted to Guangzhou, China in September ... so finally the dismise of "The Gila-Gila Gang" ... leaving poor old aahhh-CHEW!!! all by himself in Malaysia ... and the funny thing is she told me that she has no access to me blog ... the internet under censorship by the Chinese Government ... well, not surprised ...

Went to India early this month ... to Bangalore, to be precised ... photos to come, I hope ...

Another attempt to learn to play the guitar ... cakap saja, no practice one ... ahahaha ...

Also pushing meself to learn Photoshop ... because Ian wanted to learn ... so I downloaded for him lor ... ooppsss!!! ... see the new header ... nice, right???

And aahhh-CHEW!!! got fatter ... eat and eat and eat ... even though no photos posted but the eating continues ... ahahaha ... so Aunty Esther would be rolling her eyes and demand me to change the profile photo pronto ...

Me blog header changed once though no post was made ... so goodbye "Summer" and "Who Moved My Cheese" ...

Going through some sort of soul searching ... early mid life crisis ... ahahaha ... thus the new blog header ... "Big Fat Elephant Floating Away" ...

Yes, my dear "guest" ... I'm still in England, "Aunty" or "Uncle" ... why??? ... well, it's because I'm not finished yet ... ahahaha ... I have a few more posts to go ... that's show how productive I was in one day ... hehehehe

When I told Mui Kok Wai that I would be going to London, he told me that the current London Bridge is not the original ... and that the City of London sold that bridge to some bloke in the US ... LOL ... it's was too mind-boggling to comprehend or to accept ... how could one sell off a bridge ... ??? ...

Well, it's true ... on 18 April 1968, the London Bridge was sold to the American entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch of McCulloch Oil for US$2,460,000 ... the bridge was taken apart, each piece was numbered to aid re-assembly and was reconstructed at Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and re-dedicated on 10 October 1971 ... it now forms the centrepiece of a theme park in English style, complete with a Tudor period shopping mall and has become Arizona's second-biggest tourist attraction, after the Grand Canyon ... now fancy that???!!! ... ahahaha ...

... "London Bridge is falling down, falling down" ... so excited at first as I was climbing up to the bridge from the Southwark ... until I got to the top and saw ...

... that's it ... and yes, that's all, too ... the London Bridge is just a ... bridge ... afterall ... ahahaha ...

... aahhh-CHEW!!! and the Bridge ... and no, it has yet to fallen down ... ahahaha ...

... the view of the Tower Bridge from the London Bridge ... that more impressive Tower Bridge has always been mistaken for the London Bridge ...

... The London Bridge Experience made the news when during its construction some workers came across a large collection of buried bones ... some of the skulls had holes through the top of their craniums indicating that at some point they may have sat on spikes ... in London's medieval history it is said that the heads of executed criminals and traitors were placed on London bridge as a warning to others ... that's right, stop pinching me chips!!! ... ahahaha ...

... the "original" London Bridge" in Arizona today ... and yup!!! ... it's also just a ... bridge ... so what's so special about it??? ... till someone would buy it for US$2.46 mil for it ... *sigh* ...

So before I made me way to the Tower Bridge ... let me tell you the real reason why the London Bridge fell down ... from the nursery rhyme below ...

Continuing on me trip to London in April this year ...

As I walked towards London Bridge and Tower Bridge ... I came across a ship docked right in the centre of London City!!! ... LOL ... ahahaha ...

... this ship is called "The Golden Hinde" or "Golden Hind" and was captained by Sir Francis Drake ... this is merely the replica ... the original disintegrated and broken up approximately 400 years ago ...

... this ship is "parked" at the St Mary Overie Dock ... by the London Bridge ... look at the activities available!!! ... sleepovers!!! ... and can play "Pirates of the Carribean"!!! ... where's Captain Jack Sparrow ahhhh??? ... ahahaha ... ooppsss ... wrong ship and wrong country ... ahahaha ...

... it was an English galleon best known for sailing around the world and for piracy!!! ... Drake was a British pirate!!! ... ehhh??? ... need an apprentice ahhhh??? ... You're FIRED!!! ... ahahaha ...

... the ship was originally called the "Pelican" but was later renamed by Drake to compliment his patron, Sir Christopher Hatton, whose armorial crest was a golden 'hind', or female deer ...

... singer dressed up in period costume ... hallo, hallo??? ... look up please ... photo time ... ahahaha ...
